Among the various platforms including BlackBerry, Symbian, iPhone, Microsoft, or the latest Android that are available today, iPhone looks to dominate the market scenario. It is believed that if commercial developers support a particular platform then it rues the marker. Commercial developers basically look for three things before choosing a platform including a large and well defined market, an efficient channel to reach that market and a low cost to develop products for that market.

IPhone has a large market and single store which makes for an efficient way to market. Also, iPhone requires low cost to develop. The homogeneity of the iPhone platform and its marketing channel proves to be a huge advantage from the perspective of developers. On other hand, Blackberry has the largest market but its marketing channel is not clear and cost of development is high. Android is the latest one with potential large market but it has multiple stores and devices are not uniform.

Developers will try iPhone with new products as it is associated with low cost. If products are successful there, then they can be ported to other leading platforms. It seems that innovation will take place rapidly on the iPhone platform and Apple will gain major share as a result.
